Raynaud Jean Cocteau Collection

Raynaud Jean Cocteau Collection
The Raynaud Jean Cocteau Collection features the work of the famed French poet, illustrator, painter, playwright and film-maker Jean Cocteau (1889-1963). Cocteau developed an interest in ceramics in 1957 creating more than 300 pieces using his favorite motifs of tragic mythological heroes, fantastic plants, angels and fairy tale characters. Raynaud is reinterpreting the motifs of the original plates on Limoges porcelain. The Raynaud Jean Cocteau collection is based on matt pastel backgrounds with subtle hues dear to Cocteau which contrasts with the lines of the motif in a nod to the dreamy poet's sense of fun and influence on the surrealist movement.
