Meissen Ming Dragon Black ~ Chinese designs served as the inspiration for Meissen Ming Dragon dinnerware that is one of the Meissen's earliest designs being created in in 1740. During the Ming Dynasty, the dragons began to appear more frequently on Chinese porcelain. In Chinese mythology, the dragon symbolises the spirit of change, the rhythm of nature, existential wisdom, the sun, light and the male power of yang. The figure of the dragon with four toes, which is the representation typically used at Meissen, was originally reserved exclusively for imperial princes in ancient China.
